Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Jake Chiasson is the first pick for the Brandon Wheat Kings at the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Abbotsford, BC product played for Yale Bantam Prep last year and had 20 goals and 48 assists in 30 games.
The right winger standing at 6’1" and weighing 160 pounds was selected with the 15th pick in the draft.
Brandon selected centre and left winger Brett Hyland with their second pick in the second round.
Hyland is from Edmonton, Alberta and played for Northern Alberta Xtreme Bantam Prep and had 35 points in 17 games this past season.
The Wheat Kings also selected in the second round Calgary forward Dylan James and Saskatoon blueliner Jacob Hoffrogge.
The Wheat Kings went with a Manitoban in the third round when they took Lorette-born Cabrel Labossiere.
The Wheat Kings had three fifth round selections and opted for Owen Weihs from Winnipeg, Regina defenceman Logen Hammett and Jaxon Dube from St. Albert.
In the sixth round, Brandon took defenceman Tyler Teasdale who played for the Winnipeg Bantam Monarchs this past season.
Brandon picked a Minot-born defenceman Charles Larsen in the eighth round.
Brandon wound up taking ten players on Thursday.
