Virden, MB (CKLQ) – The Virden Oil Capitals find themselves in a bit of a hole in their MJHL semi-final series after a 5-2 loss to the Portage Terriers on home ice on Sunday.
The Terriers got goals from five different players and and 29-saves from Ethan Peterson on route to their 2nd straight victory over the Caps.
Hunter Cloutier had a goal and an assist for Virden while Blake Sidoni had the other goal. Riley Wallace was pulled after allowing four goals on 21 shots. 17-year-old Blake Moroz came on in relief, and stopped all 12 shots he faced.
Over 1400 fans were in attendance at Tundra Oil & Gas Place for the game. Virden will try to get back into the series tomorrow (Tuesday) in Portage.
