Winnipeg, MB (CKLQ) - The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) are asking you to check your fire extinguishers after a recall of two specific styles of machinery under the Kidde and Garrison brand.
The Canadian government says about 2.7 million devices in Canada are potentially affected, including some dating back more than 40 years.
The recall also effects a push button Pindicator made between 1973 and August 15, 2017.
The recall takes place after several incidents where the machinery became clogged or required more force to activate, and fears that this could create an impact hazard.
Deputy Fire Commissioner Robert Pike says they extinguisher is a safety hazard if it's used.
"They may not discharge, or the nozzle or the components of them can become detached," says Pike, "Then it's an impact hazard for people."
