Virden’s Brandi Pollock is getting rave reviews for her work off the ice with the Robert Morris University Colonials.
The Westman Wildcats’ grad is in the running for the prestigious NCAA humanitarian award — recognizing college hockey’s finest citizen.
The finalists for award will be revealed in February, and the winner will be announced at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia in April.
"I think it’s a great honour because there’s only 18 nominees, but for me it’s really not about the honour, it’s more about helping people and being able to volunteer and helping around Pittsburgh has been a great experience," Pollock told CKLQ’s Tyler Crayston and Lanny Stewart on CKLQ’s Monday Sports Talk this week.
Pollock and her team are hoping to be national championship contenders come seasons end.
The fourth-year blueliner is serving as an alternate captain and has 10 points and a plus-12 rating in 26 games, helping the team go 9-2-1 in the conference and 20-4-2 overall.
