Melita, MB (CKLQ) - The town of Melita was buzzing this weekend with hundreds of people taking part in the 10th annual Banana Days Festival.
The event has grown from a one-day event into a three day, family fun filled weekend and the organizers say it's awesome to see so many familiar faces.
"A lot of people come home every year for this weekend," said Organizer Camiel Serruys. "It's nice to see a lot of new faces in town as well."
Banana Days featured live bands, kids play area, fireworks, and the fan favorite free banana splits. Organizers say planning is already underway for next year.
"We can only go bigger and better, that's what Banana Days is all about," added Serruys. "Our volunteers is growing, our sponsorship is growing, our attendance is growing, everything is looking very positive for the future."
Serruys added that he hopes in the next couple of years they raise enough money to bring a midway and carnival to the event.
