Winnipeg, MB (CKLQ) - The annual liquor ban in provincial campgrounds has now been lifted, just ahead of the May long weekend.
Most campgrounds opened on May 11, but most people start their camping season during the three-day long weekend.
The province says there will still be special family-friendly, liquor-free camping bays at Bird Hill and Grand Beach provincial parks.
The provincial government is also reminding campers and tourists about the confirmed presence of the emerald ash borer, meaning firewood can not be moved out of Winnipeg and anyone caught moving firewood could face a fine.
Boaters and watercraft users are also reminded to prevent the spread of zebra mussels and other invasive species, by cleaning your boat when you move it to different bodies of water.
