Truck was hit by a train

Poplar Point, MB (CKLQ) - A 55-year-old High Bluff man has died after being involved in a vehicle-train collision five kilometres northeast of Poplar Point.

RCMP say early in the morning on June 12, there was a collision between a vehicle and a CP Rail train on Two Mile Road.

Investigators say the 55-year-old man was driving a tandem gravel truck eastbound and approached the rail crossing, when the truck was hit by a train heading northeast.

Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was not wearing a seat belt and police say alcohol is not a factor in the collision.

The investigation continues.
