Two events on Saturday

Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - For a full day on Saturday, residents are invited to have a party, in order to raise funds for those affected by the downtown fires in Brandon last month.

The owner of Heavenly Auras, Jennifer Piwniuk, and the owner PJ the DJ, PJ Clark talked about putting on the fundraiser just a day after a the fires on May 19.

"We just wanted to do something for the community," says Piwniuk. "And I'm good at putting on a party, so I thought that would be the best thing to do."

And a party is what it's going to be.

The event starts at the Optimist Park at 1:00 p.m.

There will be bouncy castles, face painting, food trucks and a fire trucks for all ages.

To play, you can donate either $5 or a non-perishable food item to help fill the bus for the food bank.

Later in the evening, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the Victoria Inn Imperial Ballroom, there will be a social costing $10 a ticket.

All proceeds from the two events will be given to the  families affected.

Piwniuk is hoping after the fundraising activities, they will be able to give at least $500 to every family affected.
