A local wrestler is looking to accomplish his dream of becoming the champion of one of North America's busiest wrestling promotions.
"The First All-Star" Brian Rich of Brandon is hoping to one day be the champion of Canadian Wrestling's Elite based out of Winnipeg.
He tells CKLQ he is climbing the ladder, and must first settle the score with his arch-nemesis, "Tasty" Travis Cole in a six-man tag team match in Virden Wednesday night.
"I guarantee you, in this six-man main event, in Virden, Manitoba, Travis Cole is going to be hiding behind those two guys," said Rich. "I'm going to get my hands on him, and I'm going to rip his neck off."
The bitter rivalry was voted the second best feud of the year in the CWE's annual awards, with Cole finishing first in the most-improved category, with Rich finishing right behind him in second.
"(Brian) made his return a few months back, and he's been absolutely tearing it up. He's come back ten times the wrestler he was before he left," said Danny Warren, the owner and founder of CWE. "He's been leaving an impression on fans all across Canada."
Rich is teaming up with current CWE Television Champion Tommy Lee Curtis of Reston, and former Ring of Honor superstar ACH to take on "Tasty" Travis Cole, "Hitman for Hire" Mr. Grim, and the first-ever CWE Champion "The Canadian Crusher" AJ Sanchez.
"This is a big tour for Tommy Lee Curtis, because he just won his first major singles title in his ten-year career on our last CWE tour," said Warren. "He's really excited to come back to Westman with the TV Title and be there for the fans who have supported him on his journey.
"This event is part of the New Heights Tour, in which the promotion will hold 12 shows in 12 days in four provinces.
The event in Virden will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion -- doors open at 6:30pm, bell time is 7pm. CWE returns to Gladstone Thursday, January 19th. You can learn more about the CWE at their website here.
