Carberry’s Braden Calvert and Winnipeg team need to find the win column one more time to capture the top prize at the Canadian Junior Men’s Curling Championship.
Calvert and crew secured a spot in the final after finishing in first-place in the round-robin with a 9-1 record.
"It’s pretty exciting to get a berth in the final. The guys have just played so great all week. We’ve been pretty solid as a team and we hope to carry it over to the final," Calvert told CKLQ’s Tyler Crayston. "It would be a dream come true to win that Canadian championship. We’re not too far off and we’re just going to go out there and play the best that we can."
Calvert and the Manitoba champs will meet either Alberta or New Brunswick in the championship game, which is being shown on TSN at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The winner will represent Canada at the World Junior Curling Championship next month in Switzerland.
"We’re trying not to think about it too much. We’re just taking it as another game that we have to go out there and play well and just another game we got to win," said Calvert. "We’re just trying to get better every day, go out there with a good mindset, stay loose and have fun."
