Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team has clinched a home playoff series after a 3-1 win over the Mount Royal Cougars.
Seth Friesen had 18 kills in the contest, while Elliot Viles and Matt Powell added 11 kills each in the victory.
The Bobcats got the first set victory with a 25-21 score, but lost the set afterwards 25-14.
Brandon got rolling after the lost set with a 25-18 score, and then finished things off with a close 25-22 fourth set.
The Bobcats defence couldn’t stop anything in the second set with the Cougars hitting .400 percent of their shots.
But with the victory, Brandon has clinched at least the fourth spot in the Canada West before they head out to Alberta next weekend.
The Bobcats will play the weekend of February 23, 24 and 25 (if necessary).
Right now the opponent would be the University of Winnipeg if the season started today.
