Police say it sends the wrong message

Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - As the Christmas season nears - an increasing number of holiday revelers celebrate with cheer.

Meanwhile, police check-stops become more frequent throughout Manitoba.

Now there is an app for that, in Winnipeg at least.

The new app is designed to let drivers know where photo radar police vehicles and police are positioned within the city.

There are also check stop alerts on Facebook.

Winnipeg Police officials say while posting the information about check stops may not be illegal, officers say it delivers the wrong message and creates more danger on the roads.
